Losing Color – Keratinocytes Drive Autoimmunity in Vitiligo through CXCL10 "We sought to identify immune cytokine pathways that drive vitiligo to develop new, targeted treatments. We recently discovered that CXCL10, an IFNγ-induced chemokine, is expressed in human vitiligo skin and serum, and is required for both the progression and maintenance of vitiligo in our mouse model. New data reveal that keratinocytes and Langerhans cells are the major producers of CXCL10 during vitiligo, but have opposing contributions to disease progression.” |
